31 Heroes

On Saturday my box (along with boxes around the globe) hosted a 31 Heroes WOD which was "specifically designed to remember the fallen heroes of August 6th, 2011 and honor their legacy of sacrifice."

31 Heroes participants sign up for the event via the non-profit's official website and then they sign up for a shift with a partner at a host box.

The WOD

News Alert (insert sarcasm): I love CrossFit and have listed the reasons why millions of times. But, my favorite thing about crossfit is the community. Crossfitters are always willing and ready to lend a helping hand, especially when it is for our men and women in the military, police forces, and fire departments. If you ever are feeling like you don't want to workout, do a Hero WOD. It will change your outlook on everything.

On Saturday, I completed the WOD with my incredible partner Kristin. We had originally planned on doing it Rx but dropped the thruster down to 85lbs instead. I am glad we did because running with 25lbs on my back did a number on my quads. It was a great workout (with A LOT of rope climbs) and I thought about those fallen heroes through every movement.

Like all of the Hero WODs, Saturday was a great reminder that freedom isn't free and we can never forget the people who sacrifice their lives for us.

Did you participate in 31 Heroes on Saturday?

How did it go?

Before I sign off here is goofy and blurry outtake...
