Weekend Recap: Tears and Bubbly

On Friday night I sat on my couch for 5 hours straight. It was glorious! I made a frozen pizza, drank some J Lohr, and started watching "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce". Have you heard of it? It is Bravo's new scripted series, and I am OBSESSED. It is so funny, the writing is super clever, and (they say this in the promos too but it is true) it reminds me of Sex and the City. SATC is the 2nd greatest show of all time. Golden Girls is number one.

The next morning I thought about skipping crossfit, but decided at the last minute to get my booty in gear. This WOD was TOUGH. I ended up only doing 5 rounds despite my light front squat. I was sucking wind and could barely move after. But, that exhaustion felt so good.

Immediately after the workout, I rushed to Pentagon City to get my hair done. It had gotten so long and was in major need of some fresh highlights.

Refueling with hot tea? It was the best I could do in my time crunch.

I ended up cutting five inches off which makes me feel like I have a bob now. That is the struggle when you are someone with long hair. Even when you NEED to cut it, you don't want to cut it. Then when you do cut it, you have buyer's remorse.

My hair is actually still long, but it is amazing how attached I got to those extra inches.

That night I spent the evening with Lanie. We drank bubbly...

..ordered a sushi feast...

...and watched chick flicks. I had only seen "The Family Stone" once before Saturday and didn't really love it. Maybe it was the wine or maybe I was just feeling uber emotional, but I loved it this time. Lanie and I both cried our eyes out. It was so much fun haha!

The next morning (I spent the night), Lanie made us a delicious breakfast, and then we headed to Chinatown to see the newish Hunger Games movie.

As much as I love the Hunger Games franchise, I only thought this movie was so-so. You can tell that they were just biding time until the final installment. I think it would have been better if they hadn't split the last book into two movies. We still enjoyed it. Just not as good as the second movie which I thought was incredible. What do you think?

After the movie we were starving. We popped over to Shop House for a late lunch/early dinner, and then we did some last minute shopping at the Chinatown Christmas Market.

I said goodbye to Lanie at about 5:30pm, met up with a coworker for a quick second, and then went home for more time on the couch and a Dark & Stormy. I was out of wine.

It was a great weekend, and I can't believe that Christmas is this week!

Did you do anything fun?
