Weekend Recap: An Austin Wedding

What a great weekend! On Friday, Josh and I flew to Austin, Texas for a wedding. This was our 5th trip in 6 weeks, and I was feeling it. But we had so much fun that it was all worth it. I forgot how much I love Austin.

The second we landed our friend Luke (he used to live with Josh in DC) picked us up and took us to Anthony Bourdain's favorite Mexican Restaurant, El Azteca. I was starving and good Mexican food always hits the spot.

Later the three of us met up with some other friends near 6th Street for a few more drinks.

The next morning, Josh took me to a place he had been to on his last trip to Austin. He said he knew I would love, and he was right. Not only did I love the way Jo's Coffee looked, but I loved the hustle and bustle, the vibe, and the food. They made the best migas I have ever had and a bucket of mimosas was only 15 bucks. Woo hoo!

After breakfast we walked around the State Capitol. Supposedly the Texas Capitol is taller than the US Capitol. I always brag about this when I give people Capitol tours here in DC. However, after this trip I was skeptical. It did not look taller to me but per the interwebs it is in fact 15 feet taller.

The reason for our trip to Texas was to attend my dad's best friend's son's wedding (woo that was a lot of possessives). My dad and his friend (I call him Uncle Mickey) have been friends since the 1st grade so I honestly think of their family as my family. In other words, I wouldn't/couldn't miss this special event for anything. We met up with my parents late that afternoon for some pre-wedding cocktails. The weather was incredible and I loved getting to spend extra time with so many people I love.

Daddy's Girl

At 5:30pm it was time for the wedding. The ceremony incorporated traditions from the bride and the groom's two different faiths (Christian and Jewish) which made it extra special. Everything was beautiful!

Following the ceremony the party really started to get down. We ate, we drank, we danced A LOT, and stayed out sooo late. This was the 3rd night in a row that Josh and I were up past 2AM. I am feeling those late nights today.

The couple is also a family divided when it comes to Texas Schools. Laura went to Texas A&M and Josh went to UT. Obviously Josh married up since he now has an Aggie girl ;)

Three Best Friends

The next morning Josh, my Daddy, and I went to Mass before Josh and I packed up and headed to the airport. We got home at about 5:30pm, and I didn't move from the couch the rest of the night. I was exhausted, but like I said above, it was well worth it. I loved witnessing Josh (the groom) and Laura (the bride) vow to love one another forever and celebrating their union with some of my favorite people ever. They are a beautiful couple on the inside and out, and we are so happy for them! Congratulations!

How was your weekend?
