Wedding Wednesday: Facial Care

Wedding Day Facial Care

Skincare has always been an interest of mine. I haven't changed my regime that much since Josh and I got engaged. However, I have tried to remain as consistent as possible. Consistency is the key to great skin. Wash your face every night (No Matter What) and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

I love products. There have been plenty of times that I spent the majority of my Target or grocery store trips lost in the beauty aisle. Most of my biggest splurges are on my face creams; however, I do some favorite items that are from the drug store. Regardless of price, you have to find the routine that works for you, and after several years of mixing and matching I think I have finally found it.

Night Time

I love all of the Neutrogena Grapefruit products. Not only do the smell great, but they also work really well at keeping my skin clear and blemish free. Now that I am close to 30 (just a few months away) my skin does not breakout as often but it still happens; this facial wash keeps that in check. Every other night I combine this step with my Clarisonic to get a really thorough clean. The Clarisonic sloughs off anything that just a normal water, sink and soap combination can leave behind. Finally, after all of that lathering and splashing, I make a last ditch effort to make sure that I have removed all of the crossfit sweat and makeup by using an Oil-Free cleansing wipes. Despite all  of my scrubbing, I can almost always find some spots I missed and these wipes clean them right up.

This a splurge product, but it lasts forever. I have had the same container of it for over a year. After washing my face I dab a little under my eyes and up along the brow bone.

This is the most expensive product I buy, but a little bit goes a LONG WAY. Wrinkles are a reality as you get older (again, 30 is around the corner), and I want to fight them as best as I can. Some retinols can make you peel and turn red. This one does not! I use it immediately after my eye cream all over my face and rub any excess on my neck.

This is my all-time FAVORITE product. Not only is it inexpensive (7 dollars for a giant tub), but it makes your skin feel so soft and it has a pleasant scent. After my retinol has sunk in (about 30 seconds after application), I rub this all over my face, neck, and chest (one of the first places to show signs of aging). I use a very generous amount and my skin feels moist and dewy after.

Day Time

After a goodnight's sleep and morning CF, I wash my face with the Neutrogena Grapefruit Wash. Then I moisturize with Clinique Youth Surge with SPF. I have been a loyal Clinique user since junior high and I still love most of the products. This one has been my go-to morning moisturizer for the past 5 years. I use the combination dry formula because it is a bit thicker and I rub it all over my face and neck. If I am spending more time outside than just a normal work day, I follow this step with sunscreen specifically Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Suncreen.

Once my moisturizer (and sunscreen if non workday) has sunk in, I follow with a makeup primer. I received this one in a goody bag that Alycyn got from a work event. I LOVE IT. It goes on smooth, adds a little extra SPF, and makes my complexion look even and clear. I have tried BB creams in the past and found them to be too thick. This is just right. After this step, I follow with my makeup routine which is pretty simple: pressed powder, blush and mascara.

And there you have it! I could talk about skincare all day (in fact, in my old office my friend Victoria and I really did). I would love to hear from you.

What is your favorite facial product?

Wedding Wednesday

  1. These products sound great! I need to try your nightly routine. I start with the wipes and finish with the clarisonic before my night cream! Interested to see if there is much of a difference! Thanks for sharing these - I want to check them out!

    1. They really are great! Specifically the St. Ives one. I love it so much and it is a STEAL! Don't you love your clarisonic?
