Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Pictures

A few weeks ago, Josh and I had engagement pictures taken. The Capitol Rotunda is about to be covered in scaffolding for roughly two years and since Josh and I met on Capitol Hill, and I really wanted to get pictures with the beautiful dome before it went under construction. The only problem with trying to get our pictures in before the work on the Capitol began was we were limited on days. November in DC is gorgeous, but to a Texan it is as cold as the Arctic. Planning an outfit gave me anxiety. I didn't want us to look too bundled up but I didn't want to look like I was freezing either. The weather also gave me anxiety. The day before our pics it poured down rain. I wanted it to be sunny and gorgeous but alas, it wasn't meant to be. When I woke up the morning of our "photo shoot", it was gray, drizzly and dreary. Gross. Thank goodness for Joshua (I picked a winner) and our fantastic photographer, Erin! They both calmed me down and assured me that despite the gray sky and gloomy conditions we would get some great pictures, and we did!!! Check out some of favorites below:

By this point, the drizzle/weather had started to make this girls hair curly. I have very naturally wavy hair that has a mind of its own.

In the end, I loved all of the pictures despite the weather woes. I have to admit it reaffirmed that I am happy we are getting married inside. I know myself too well to know that I can easily get anxious over things that are beyond my control. (Christa at Forever Young wrote a great blog about this and not letting it ruin your big day.) Luckily, I have a wonderful man who keeps me grounded and reminds me what truly matters...that we are committing ourselves to one another for a lifetime of happiness, love and support.
Cheesy, but oh so true!

Also before I sign off for today, I have to give another shout out to Erin Scott. Not only did she take absolutely stunning pictures, but she made Josh and me feel at ease the entire time. She was fun to be around, warm and caring. If you need a photographer in the Washington, DC area, I highly recommend her....and although I wish this was a paid advertisement, it isn't. These opinions are purely my own. So hire Erin!
