Weekend Recap: All Things Fire and Buried Treasure

This weekend was great. Not only was it fun, but was equally productive. Loved every minute of it.

It all got started with a "see you later" happy hour for Lauren who works with Josh at the Ag Committee. It was a gorgeous night and crystal clear, and we toasted to Lauren while gazing at the US Capitol. The beauty of this place still stuns me daily. After a round of Shiner Cheer, Josh, Alycyn and I went to Whole Foods to stock up on wine, cheese and red meat for a night of eating, soaking in the hot tub, and relaxing. It was perfect!

The next morning, Josh and I went to crossfit. It was a beast of a WOD with lots of chest to bar pullups:
Part A:
Over-the-Box Jumps (24/20)
Chest-to-Bar Pullups

Rest 2 minutes, then:
Part B:
2 Rounds
75 Double Unders
50 Sit Ups

I decided to try to Rx it even though I knew it would take me longer since I had to do the pullups one at a time. I finished in 26:12 Rx and was happy that I decided to push through and do it. Although I am not sure my hands were happy I did.
When we got to my house, Josh put some "NewSkin" on my hands. He had warned me that it would hurt. I had heard him cry out in pain when he had used it but just thought he was being dramatic. However nothing prepared me for how bad it really hurt. I screamed, cussed and flailed around until the burning stopped. It felt like hot lava had been dropped on my hands and I am not exaggerating.
After breakfast, Alycyn and I started to clean out our cabinets in our kitchen and living room. Whenver we found something that we didn't want but didn't want to throw away, we put it out on the sidewalk in front of our house. This included some paintings we made at one of those drink wine and paint places. By the end of the day, EVERY SINGLE thing was GONE! Even the paintings! It made me so happy. What didn't make me happy was how bad the Aggies played. I self medicated my feelings with pizza. It kind of helped.

Saturday evening ended with a happy hour in honor of another friend that is moving, Cori. Josh and I met Cori through CrossFit, and she had an amazing showing of people from our gym at her happy hour. She had an amazing showing of people period. I think everyone in that bar was there for her! I didn't get a photo with her, but luckily she will still be around for a bit longer.

On Sunday, I woke up early and started cleaning out my room. I found so many things I forgot about that I am so excited to use in my new studio specifically some stemless wine glasses that were given to me by the Ag Committee almost 5 years ago! Later in the afternoon, my girlfriends and I went and saw Catching Fire. (Disclaimer: I love the Hunger Games series and could talk about it forever. Despite this fact what I am about to say about the movie has nothing to do with my love for the series.) Catching Fire was AMAZING! Seriously I can't stop thinking about how good it was and I am officially obsessed with Jenna Malone as JoAnna. Ugh! So good! Go see it now!

My weekend ended with Pho with Josh, a trip to Wal-Mart (I was ecstatic about this by they way), and wine by a roaring fire. It was a fabulous weekend, and I know this week is going to be great too. (Ehmmm Birthday Week)

How was your weekend?

  1. I am so honored I made the blog! :)

  2. Jane Malone is fabulous. I've liked her since I saw Saved!, a really random movie Mandy Moore was in. Hilarious, totally recommend it. She's also been in random other stuff, but Catching Fire will hopefully get her a few bigger roles because she's awesome. And Catching Fire was beyond amaze. I HAVE to see it again! I just don't know when... :/
