Weekend Recap: Crabbin' & Crossfitin'

The weekend started off at Hill Country Barbecue to celebrate my sweet friend (and Fellow Texan) Victoria's birthday!!! We toasted the day of her birth with margaritas and Shiner, and then stuffed ourselves with succulent ribs, brisket, and numerous sides. One of her friends made Peanut Butter & Jelly cupcakes that were out of this world, and I felt as stuffed as a Thanksgiving turkey. Soooo full, but sooo worth it!

The next morning I went to CF. For the month of June my box is doing Hero WODs every Saturday. Hero WODs are in honor of different individuals who have died in the line of duty. They put a lot of things in perspective, and it feels good to remember them and all of their sacrifices regularly. This Saturday we did Josh:
SSG Joshua Hager, United States Army, was killed Thursday February 22, 2007 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to Josh’s friends and family.
21 Overhead Squats (95/65)
42 Pull Ups
15 Overhead Squats
30 Pull Ups
9 Overhead Squats
18 Pull Ups

I decided to take it easy on the overhead squat and do 55pounds. It is not my strongest movement, and I wanted to make sure that I was completing it correctly. I am still sore today from the WOD even with lowering the weight!

After CF, I showered off and my Josh and I headed out to Southern Maryland for his office picnic. It was held right by the water, and there were tons of activities: corn hole, kayaking, skeet shooting, and volleyball. We feasted on tons of different foods, but the highlight for me were the Maryland Crabs. Yummy!!!
Crabs before they were steamed (a lot of them tried to escape to no avail) ; beautiful waterfront view; shooting skeet; me and my honey

On Sunday, we woke up super early and headed right back to Maryland for the CrossFit Games Mid-Atlantic Regionals to cheer on our coach, Linsey (who did INCREDIBLE!!). I am going to give a full recap of Regionals tomorrow, but I was pretty much as excited as a kid at Disney World the entire time I was there. The competitors were amazing, and it pumped me up to eat healthy and workout this week!

We spent most of the day at regionals, and afterwards I took a nap Josh went to church, we went grocery shopping, and prepped most of our meals for the week. We are trying to be Paleo for both lunch and dinner this week especially after seeing all those fit bods at the competition. Luckily we weren't starting till Monday so I was pretty excited when I found a surprise in the fridge: To-Go Containers of Banana Pudding from Hill Country!!! I had totally forgotten that we had bought them Friday night and never ate them. They were the perfect sweet treat for the Game of Thrones season finale and the end to a great weekend.

  1. AHHH! So sad GoT is over until APRIL. I just don't think I can wait that long. I guess I'll have to start reading Book 5 to tide me over. If you haven't read the books, I highly suggest them. They follow the show (season one almost exactly) pretty closely and I actually figured out more of who was who after I started reading the books. I'm SOOO anxious for next season, though! We get some SERIOUS justice (hopefully in one of the first episodes, I was hoping they'd throw it in the finale, but they didn't).

Anyway - check out the books. George RR Martin is insane (in a good way, I think).

    Love you, Olivia!
