Weekend Recap: R&R #MDW

As I mentioned on Friday, I was definitely looking forward to a long weekend. However I never forgot what the true meaning of Memorial Day is about. I am so thankful for all of the men and women who gave up their lives for our freedom and our country. We are truly blessed to live in such a great place, and I will be forever grateful to them as well as their families for their sacrifices and all of the members of the Armed Forces who continue to fight for our freedoms.

Lots of birthdays were celebrated in the last few days, and Friday was no different. After work, we all met up for guacamole and margaritas in honor of Dave's day of birth. My cousin Karl also happened to be in town so it was fun catching up with him along with all of our friends!

The next morning I woke up nice and early and went to CF. It was a cardio intense WOD:

100 Double Unders
5 Muscle Ups
50 Box Jumps (24/20)
500m Row
50 Burpee Pull Ups
800m Run
50 Sit Ups
100 Double Unders

Also like I mentioned on Friday, I have finally gotten better at Double Unders...which helped in this WOD a lot. However the burpee pull ups were a beast, and I could only do 15 Rx. I did the rest using a box, and finished the entire WOD in 28:50.

I have been beeyatching about needing new clothes for a while now so Josh and I spent the afternoon at the mall. We walked around for a few hours, took a break at the Cheesecake Factory, and then he treated me to a new Lilly dress!!! YAY! That night we gorged on Indian food....yummy!

Sunday morning I got started on Memorial Day Chicken. I made a rub and then let it sit for 24 hours in the fridge. Recipe manana (and I mean it too...post already ready).

After laboring in the kitchen, Josh and I went down to the waterfront to get our fresh seafood for our Sunday night dinner. It was a gorgeous day, and INSANELY crowded. We got a crab-cake as a snack and purchased some fresh shrimp and 5lbs of King Crab Legs!

Josh boiled all of the seafood that night after church, and we ate every ounce of the crab. They were so GOOD. Way better than the ones we bought at the grocery store a few weeks ago. However, 5lbs of crab is A LOT, and I was so stuffed for the rest of the night.

On Monday, I woke up early and went to Crossfit. They were only having two workouts because of the holiday so I knew it would be crowded. The WOD focused on Double Unders yet again, and I ended up making the Leader-board (3rd place)! Woo Hoo!

4 Rounds
75 Double Unders
25 Hang Power Snatches (75/55)

16:26 Rx

Later that afternoon, we put the marinated chicken in the smoker, and then Beth came over for lunch. We feasted on chicken, black beans and rice, and Beth's Peanut Butter Pie. It was sooooo good, but I was absolutely stuffed (a common theme for this weekend).

The weekend ended with a reunion dinner with out friend Jennabeth. She moved back to Texas last year and is in DC for a graduation. Our entire group of friends met up at neighborhood restaurant to catch up with JBT, eat kabobs and laugh. We miss you JBT, but it was so great to see you for a bit!

After the dinner/reunion, I promptly went home and went to bed.
Woo! What a great weekend!
How was yours?
