Weekend Recap Part 1: Falfurrias w/ Daddy and Linda

For the past 5 days I have been in God's Country...aka Texas. In order to not make my recap longer than War and Peace I decided to break my trip into three parts, Falfurrias, McAllen, and Wedding.

My trip started on Tuesday afternoon when Josh and I got to the airport. He had a wedding to attend in Dripping Springs and mine was in Houston so we both thought it would be a good idea to extend our trips to see our families. Because of Josh's broken ankle we were able to bypass security and board first. Huge Pro! Although I am not sure Josh enjoyed the pat down he received instead of going through the metal detector ;)

For the flight to Houston, Josh and I were together, but once we landed we had to say our goodbyes. He stayed there to visit his dad and I flew on to the Valley. My mom picked me up from the airport that night, and I drove straight on to Falfurrias to spend some time with my dad and Linda. Even though it was close to midnight, both of them were up because they were wrapping up an interview with a Valley news station. As a result of living on the border, both my dad and Linda are affected by illegal immigration daily. They were being interviewed about what life is like on the ranch. If you would like to see the full interview click the link below:

After the reporters left, we all visited and shared a few Beer-ritas! So tasty! Finally at about about 1:30am we all went to bed. I had been up since 5am central time...so I was exhausted.

The next morning, we all had coffee together before my dad went to work. Much to my delight, Linda and my dad had arranged for a spa day in Corpus. Woo hoo! What a treat! I was super sore from CF too so it couldn't have come at a better time.

At about 10am, Linda and I made our way to the Big City! After a quick lunch, we arrived at the masseuse's home and got to pampering. I had my massage first, and it was incredible. She really worked all of the tension out of my shoulders and the soreness from my legs. My massage was immediately followed with a great facial. Not only did she extract all of the gunk from my pores but I got a collagen treatment. My skin was glowing when we were finished. I had originally planned to take a few pics for the blog during our treatments. However, despite looking refreshed and glowing, Linda and I both looked pretty disheveled after  all of that relaxation. So no pics after all.

We got back to the ranch in the early afternoon, and I read in the shade by the pool. I finished Unbroken (unbelievable and highly recommended) and started my book club book for this month, Divergent. I have already finished it, and it was good too. Very similar to The Hunger Games...hence why I liked it. I don't think I will ever be too old for Young Adult series :)

Later that night, Linda, my Daddy, and I spent more time by the pool with some cocktails. We watched the dogs swim, enjoyed the cool breeze, and visited. Before we knew it was already dinner time. Linda made some fajitas as well as fried potatoes and onions which has always been one of my favorite dishes.

After dinner my dad and I attempted to watch the movie Gangster Squad. Despite having Ryan Gosling in it neither of us could stay awake. We both slept through the entire thing, and then went to bed. Even though I wasted perfectly yummy eye candy, it was the perfect evening.

The next morning, we had coffee together and then I started my trek back down to the Valley. As always I was SUPER sad to leave. I miss my family, and I am ready to be closer to them. However, I am so thankful I was able to spend some time with them. Thank you for a great 48 hours Daddy and Linda!!!

5 days in Texas to be continued manana. Next stop is McAllen with my Mommasita :)

Linking up with Sami again today!
Love reliving the weekends...and I get to for a few posts.
