Islamorada Vacation: Day 1

The weekend before July 4th Josh surprised me with a trip to the Florida Keys. We were originally suppose to go to his family reunion but because of hurricane threat it was canceled. Thus, my sweet man changed our arrangements and switched our trip to Florida. I was really excited.

Or weekend started off on Saturday with a flight down to Fort Lauderdale. From there, we rented a car (a convertible eclipse...my high school dream car) and started the drive to Islamorada, Florida where we were staying. The drive was beautiful, but we got stuck in a bit of traffic. We both had not eaten since early that morning so our stomaches were growling ferociously. Finally after about 2 1/2 hours in the car we made it to Key Largo and stopped at the first restaurant we saw...which just so happened to be Mexican. Ole! We started off with a round of beers, the largest bowl of ceviche ever, and then shared the Shrimp Enchiladas. The enchiladas were honestly the BEST enchiladas I have ever eaten. I have had enchiladas more times than I can count and consider myself quite the connoisseur and let me tell you these took the Gold! I have since recreated them and will share the post soon.
Larges Ceviche Platter EVVVVERRRRR!
Shrimp Enchiladas...my mouth is watering
Puerto Vallarta...if you are in Key Largo definitely stop by!

After refueling our bodies, we got back on the road and arrived in Islamorada a short while later. Josh had found a deal for The Cheeca Lodge & Spa, and let me tell you it was spectacular find. The second we arrived at the resort we were greeted with champagne, luxury accommodations, and a spectacular ocean view. I was one happy lady.
Arriving in our suite!
Enjoying my bubbly!

Beautiful View
We spent the rest of the evening hanging out by the Tiki Bar enjoying Dark & Stormies, exploring the resort, and ordering room service. It was the perfect start to a vacation that just kept getting better!
