Memorial Day Weekend

Last Friday was my sweet roomie/bff's birthday! She and I both got started early with some delicious cocktails at Jack Rose. She had an Amoro Amoro and I had a Moscow Mule...especially refreshing on such a hot May day!
Birthday Girl!

As the work day ended, more of our friends began to trickle in and we laughed and drank and celebrated the happy existence of such a great girl!

After probably too many cocktails and a few hours later, we walked two blocks down to Lauriol Plaza for dinner. LP is one of my favorite spots in DC for Mexican food, and their margaritas are exceptionally tasty as well!
It was so great to see our wonderful friend/sister Lindsey! She surprised us by coming to town.
Wonderful friends!

Dinner was just as delectable and cheesy as always, and it was full of some crazy shenanigans!

Sooo full and happy!

After dinner, despite being full and slightly over served, we decided to go to Russia House for some vodka drinks. In my opinion RH felt like I a Vamp in True Blood.

The next morning, Josh and I both thought it would be wise to skip CF. Dehydration does not equal a great WOD. Instead, we tried out the new wine bar/cheese bar in Shirlington called Cheesetique. I had the French Onion Soup and Josh had a "Grown Up Grilled Cheese" with tomato and bacon. Both were  incredible although my soup was my favorite. It was the best FO soup I have had since Paris!
I want this now!

The rest of the day we spent hanging out by the pool and then went to Mass. That evening I was suppose to go with Josh to a going away party, but opted to stay on the couch with Alycyn and catch up on the Bachelorette. It was the right decision!

The next morning I met a couple of DC Zeta friends at Perry's in Adams Morgan.  On Sundays Perry's has a Drag Queen Brunch where it is all you can eat for $23.95 and the best entertainment in town. This was my first time attending the DQB and let me tell you it WILL NOT be my last. I had a blast and will definitely be going back soon and taking anyone that comes to visit me. It was so much fun! I drank mimosas, laughed, danced, and filled my tummy with sushi and waffles! AMAZING! Warning though: be ready to be called out! The ladies love to try to embarrass you. Also bring some ones ;)

I got back home at about 5pm and directly from there, Josh and I drove to our friends Matt and Erin's house. They were having a 1st Birthday party for their precious dog Ruby. Although this party was in honor of the sweet pup, it really was meant for the humans. There were tons of adult beverages, bacon wrapped jalapenos, hot dogs, millions of sides, and tons of glorious desserts. Erin made the best strawberry pie I have EVER had, and I was stuffed when we left the party. M & E definitely know how to throw a great party and I am already looking forward to Ruby's 2nd birthday!
Ruby's Cake was shaped like a bone and made of all things a happy pooch could want: cream cheese, bacon, chicken, and more.

The next day, Memorial Day, Josh and I went to the store to get things for our fish fry that night. After our busy weekend we decided to keep things pretty low key. So we hung out by the pool all day with Alycyn, Alisa and Keith, and then Josh made us his famous guacamole and incredible fried fish and fried chicken for dinner! We played Scrabble the rest of the night, and then watched the Hatfields & McCoys show on History channel.

The End!

Thank you again to all of those service men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom. I am thankful everyday to live in such an incredible country, and it is because of all of you that this is possible.
