R&R Weekend Recap

As mentioned here, the week of March 19th was crazy for me at work. Luckily everything went even better than I could have imagined and my sweet boyfriend surprised me at work with a beautiful arrangement of flowers to say good job.

After work Josh and I went over to Hill Country Bar-B-Que for a going away party for his roommate Travis, who is moving back to Texas. We drank some beers and visited with friends, but it was torturous being in that yummy surrounding and not being able to eat their incredible food. I gave up eating out for Lent...so that was reason number 1 of why we couldn't indulge but 2 it was Friday...no meat on Fridays during Lent.

Josh and I left after a few hours to go back to his place to make a quick fish dinner. We hit the hay early because the next day we were going to crossfit...my first real WOD (workout of the day).

The next morning we showed up at crossfit bright and early, and got to work...this is what the WOD consisted of:

50 pull ups
400m Run
25 Thrusters
800m Run
25 Trusters
400m Run
50 pull ups

Thrusters are a combination of front squat and a push press, and for the pull ups I used a resistant band to help me get up and over the bar. Even with the band, my arms were on fire after the workout (and I looked like T Rex all week), but it felt great. So far I am loving crossfit, and I am going to do an extensive post on it soon.

From crossfit we went over to the grocery store, had breakfast, showered, and I went to a Muster meeting. We did all of this before 11:45am. So I felt very productive. After my meeting, Josh and I drove out to Tyson's to go to the mall and get him a few things. It was a nasty day, and after our busy schedule I was excited to lounge on the couch when we got to my house at 6pm. Alycyn and I drank wine while Josh cooked dinner, and then we all feasted on the best stuffed peppers I have ever had!!!
My baby can cook!

The next morning I made Josh and I protein shakes for breakfast. It was the start of the final week of his weight loss challenge in his office so we wanted to be lean, mean, fighting machines.

I used a combination of this recipe and this recipe to create this:

Josh loved it...I liked it. I think I need to do some more tweaking before I get it just right because it was a bit too tangy for me. I drank it though, and then we went to church. After that Josh, Alycyn and I went and saw The Hunger Games. I LOVED IT!

On a side note, have you seen that some critics are saying that Jennifer Lawrence was too "fat" to play Katniss? I think she did a fantastic job as Katniss. She might be curvy but I totally thought that she could be from District 12. Plus Katniss could hunt and take care of her family and Peeta gave her burnt bread...hence she ate more. Boo to you critics!

Now back to my weekend...after the movie, we said goodbye to Aly and then Josh and I headed back to his place to make dinner and watch the season premiere of Mad Men. I love that show and I am excited to see what all takes place in the next episodes!

All in all it was a great weekend. I was able to get some much needed R&R after a crazy wedding weekend and an even crazier work week.

On another side note, yesterday when I was going through security at work the Capitol Police pulled me aside and asked to search my bags. I obliged of course, and thought to myself "what in the world do they think I have?" Well it turns out they thought I had a GRENADE. My perfume bottle looks like this:
And when going through through the x-ray machine, it looks like this:

We laughed it off when they pulled my Flowerbomb out of my bag, and I am just happy that they are doing their job so well!

Thank you to the Capitol Police for keeping us safe each and every day.
Happy Tuesday Love Bugs!
