Disney World Recap: Day 1

Warning...the posts are long....but we just had too much fun for me not to share EVERY LITTLE DETAIL! Enjoy!

Friday morning started with an early wake up call and a trip to the airport. Josh dropped Alycyn and I off promptly at 6:15am, and she and I had no trouble boarding our direct flight to Orlando. After a nice nap on the plane, we made our way over to the "Disney Magical Express" which is a bus that transported us from the airport to our Disney resort!
Happy to be on our way to Disney!

When we got to our resort, the Port Orleans Riverside, we were able to check-in to our room early. We immediately dropped our stuff off in our rooms and made our way over to the expo!
The Port Orleans Riverside had a cabin vibe and was a great place to stay. I definitely recommend it to others.

A pro to staying at an Event Host resort was that not only did we have transportation to and from the airport but also to and from the expo, race, and all of Disney's parks and attractions. Alycyn and I got there early so that we could pick up our bibs, grab free goodies, and check out all of the exhibits!
The Expo took place at Disney's Wide World of Sports!
Standing in front of our Magical Castle!
There were so many vendors with free luna bars, apples, and things to buy!

Alycyn and I both decided to try the ElliptiGo which is an outdoor elliptical...that you use outside like a bike. I had just seen them on GMA so I was a excited to give it a whirl. I think I will be sticking to the stationary one for the time being but it was still fun to try!

We left the expo at about 3pm, and we were STARVING. It was time for lunch. So we hopped on another Disney bus and made our way over to Downtown Disney, which is a collection of shops and restaurants not in an actual theme park. This was perfect for Alycyn and I since we only had tickets to the park for Saturday!
Lego Dragon!

We stopped at a British Pub and remembered the our fun times in London this summer!

We were joined by this little guy during lunch. He is good friends with Chip & Dale!

After our much needed nutrition and refreshments, we walked around Downtown Disney and did a bit of shopping. There was so much to see and do!
Buzz Lightyear and Woody completely made of Legos!
Trying on a few MadHatter Hats! We bought our Minnie Mouse ears at this store!
Super cute and yummy candy covered apples.
Minnie Mouse Christmas Stockings!

After picking up a few important items (Ears and cotton candy), Alycyn and I went back to our resort to get in the hot tub and then freshen up for dinner. We decided to go to Bongos which is owned by Gloria Estefan and is back in Downtown Disney. It has Cuban-American food, and it was AMAZING. Alycyn and I cleared our plates!
We started with a round of Mojitos and some Ceviche!
The we both had the Cuban steak for our main course.

By the time we were finished eating, we were both stuffed and deliriously tired. I think we giggled the whole way home not only because we were having fun, but because we were EXHAUSTED. The second we got into our room we both got in bed and fell right to sleep. We knew we needed a lot of rest because we had another full day ahead of us.

Part 2 Tomorrow!
I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday night...I am off to a Randy Rogers Band Concert! Woo hoo!

  1. I didn't know you were going to a concert tonight! Have loads of fun!! :-)

My favorite picture is the little mickey mouse wash cloth - I've always wanted a wash cloth creature in my hotel room. Jealous!

  2. Looks like it was great fun. Courtnie and I stayed at the Port Orleans when we went last year. Definitely a great hotel for the price!
