Thankful for Veterans, Robley Pictures, Veterans Day 10K and My Momma's Visit

I had a fabulous weekend, but unfortunately I never got on my I am a tad behind on giving thanks. So lets get crackin!

November 11: Happy Veterans Day: I am thankful for all Veterans and for all members of the Armed Forces. Thank you for your bravery, courage, loyalty and dedication to our country. It is because of you that we are able to enjoy the priceless freedoms our great Country has to offer. Words cannot express my overwhelming gratitude, and I am especially grateful for my family and friends that have served their country so proudly, specifically those who still do. You are all true American Heroes!
On Friday, I was leaving the gym and headed home when I heard patriotic music. My gym is right next to the American Legion on Capitol Hill. At 11:11am on November 11th, 2011 they were having a Veteran's Day ceremony in the park across the street. I decided to join the gathering of people, servicemen, and Veterans that were in the park. Not only was the music played by the Marine Corps breathtaking, but the camaraderie was outstanding. I teared up several times as we honored those who have unselfishly put their lives on the line in order to make ours better. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to participate in the event.

November 12: I am thankful for the thousands of pictures I have with my BFF, Robley. Robley is also a Zeta, and we became instant friends on our pledge retreat when she let me share her pillow (I had forgotten mine). Since that day we have been together through the good times and the bad and have decided to take over Zeta Nationals together...we call ourselves the "Power Couple." Whenever I am having a bad day, I can go look at all of these hysterical pictures of us and laugh just as hard as the day we took them. She is the best and I love her greatly! Below are just five examples of our infamous shot...however I think I have about 50,000 on my computer.
Not sure what is happening here.
I am SUPER thankful for this picture. It is from a trip we took to Austin senior year...not sure what is going on...but it continues to crack me up every time I see it!

November 13: I am thankful for the Veterans Day 10K which I ran on Sunday. All of the proceeds go to Luke's Wings which provides travel planning and complimentary airplane tickets to wounded warriors and their families during the service member’s hospitalization and rehabilitation. There were tons of current servicemen and family members out there to support their loved ones, and the energy was dynamic. I also ran my fastest 10K time yet...right at 48 minutes. I am thankful for that as well!

Happy Monday Everyone!
