Eurotrip Day 5: "A Four Hour Tour"

On Day 5 I woke up feeling the most well rested I had been since before we left for Europe. I slept like a rock. This was our one and only FULL day in Paris, and we had a lot on our plate. So we got ready and headed straight out for breakfast.

We were planning to go on another walking tour that met at the Saint Michele fountain. So we stopped at a cute cafe near there for some yummy pastries, orange juice, and Cafe Ole!
Finally well rested!
Ready to conquer Paris!

After breakfast we perused some shops around the area and took in all of the sights and sounds!
Bubble Man...all of the lil children LOVED him!
Waiting for our tour to start in front of Saint Michele!
My only purchase in Paris...a purple beret. I am contemplating what to have for my second breakfast.

We met up with our tour guide, a cute Kiwi named Alex, and started out on the tour...which was going to take 4 HOURS!!! But it hit up all of the main parts of the city, and we had enjoyed our London one so much that we knew we had to do it again. (Like I said before I HIGHLY SUGGEST these tours. Click here for more info: INFO!!!)

Alex had so much personality and he made the tour so enjoyable. Not only did we see a lot, but he gave us a pretty good overview of French History as well. The tour stops by Paris landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Pont Neuf, The Louvre, the Tuileries, and the Arc de Triomophe just to name a few.
Pont des Arts where lovers seal their love by locking a lock to the bridge. This is where the final scene of Sex and the City takes place with Carrie and Big!
Lovers sealing their love forever...nice Gucci!
The Louvre Pyramid
The Tuileries

We got a bit thirsty during our "4 hooour tour" (sung to the tune of Gilligan's Island) so Beth brought out some refreshments....have to stay hydrated!
Spotted: B with a bottle of wine on a walking tour!

The tour ended at the Grand Palais so we snapped a shot with our awesome guide!
YAY Alex

We then stopped to rest on a park bench and finish our bottle of wine!
Pass the Bordeaux
Ahhhh much cures all!

I then made everyone lay down in the grass for a photo shoot!
So Pretty!
Hiding my neck zit...damn thing!

We then walked up the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and checked out some of the designer stores and stopped for a few more pics.
Arc de Triompe

From here we hopped in a cab and headed up to Montmartre and the Basilica of the Sacre Coeur. This part of Paris had the most beautiful views, and we were lucky enough to go to the Basilica when Mass was taking place. As a Catholic, I loved hearing the Mass being said in French and seeing all of the beautiful and historic architecture.
Sacre Coeur

By this time, our wine had made its way through us...literally. So we decided it was time to find a place to use the "loo" and find some more wine. After two bottles at a cute cafe with some very friendly bartenders, we were STARVING. Our tour guide Alex had told us about his favorite restaurant in the Monmartre area, and we decided to find it and try it ourselves. It was only about 2 blocks from where we were having wine, and it was adorable. There were probably only 7 tables in the place total. We were the ONLY tourists in the place and had a table that looked directly into the bustling kitchen. The food was INCREDIBLE, and it was by far the best meal we had on the entire trip. I was so into the food and the experience that I did not take any pictures until it was too late...we had already gobbled up everything...and I mean everything! We started with a fois gras appetizer, and then each got a different entree. Yum!
Le Jardin in will be the first place I go back to on my next trip to Paris!
Not even a crumb left on anyone's plate!

By this time in the night, we were a bit tipsy...or at least I know I was....I think we were already 4 bottles of wine into the night. We decided it was time to go check out the Eiffel Tower, but first we made our way over to check out Moulin Rouge!
A Buddha I was obsessed with that we found along the way!
Please notice the Sex shop in the background...
Show us your Can Can!!!

We then popped over to the Eiffel Tower! It was so beautiful at night, and I took at least 100 pictures. We finished the evening with some dessert and more wine of course!

After dessert it was close to 2am...and we were planning to wake up bright an early so that we could get in line to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. It was another fantastic day, and I loved every second of it!
