Christmas with Toni

So sadly last night's snow storm did not hold up his end of the bargain. He was suppose to let it snow SOOOO much that I got to stay home and be a bum. However, I will not let that disappoint me, and as a way to stay in the winter spirit, I have decided to tell you all about my wonderful Christmas with my BFF and Momma, Miss Toni!

After waking up at 3:30 AM Eastern Time, I flew directly down to McAllen, TX...home of Miss Toni. Immediately after exiting the aircraft I began sweating. It was about 28 degrees in DC when I left and McAllen was a warm and sultry 85 degrees upon arrival. However, the warm weather did not lessen my Christmas spirit...and this is mainly because of Toni's decorating talent. My Momma is seriously the BEST, MOST INCREDIBLE, SERIOUSLY TALENTED Interior Decorator I know, and the second I walked into our house I could feel Kris Kringle nipping at my toes! Look at her beautiful Tree:

We were very excited to be together...
and so we celebrated nightly with a wine and cheese platter!
On Christmas Morning, we awoke bright and early to have coffee by the fire...we had a cold front on Christmas Eve. My Momma loves to build a fire and have cold weather, and since this rarely happens in South Texas she really lives it up...and by live it up I mean SHE DOES NOT TURN ON THE HEATER! EEK! Luckily for me, she really is an Expert Fire in the Fireplace we were toasty and my handsome boyfriend had given me some cozy Ugg slippers for Christmas.
After our morning coffee we had a light breakfast of smoked salmon and champagne...
And then it was time to open the presents Santa left us...I received a warm new shawl (Santa got it from my Momma's store) that helped me whenever I was away from the fire.
We decided it was also wise to pop open another bottle of the bubbly...
CHEERS!!! Here's to a Happy Holiday and we are so thankful for all that we have!
Finally it was time to start cooking...Woo Hoo!!! Cooking is another one of my Momma's many talents and boy was I excited to eat her cooking!
I was not disappointed...Turkey, Oyster Dressing, Asparagus, Sweet Potatoes with Homemade Marsh mellows, and incredible Cranberry Sauce...YUM YUM YUM!
It was a truly fabulous day. This is a picture of us in front of her beautiful mantle.
I am so blessed to have such an amazing woman in my life...and I am related to her too! I love you Momma, and thank you for the Best Christmas Ever!
